Shane William Tuttle

July 11, 2022

Shane William Tuttle, 52, passed swiftly and all too soon from our lives late in the evening on Monday, July 11, 2022. Although unexpected, Shane departed this world while doing what he so loved, riding his Harley. A celebration of his life will be shared on Sunday, July 17, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at the VFW Post 1087 located on 41st St. and 10th Ave. S. here in Great Falls, MT. A memorial service will take place at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel on Monday, July 18, 2022, at 2:00 p.m.

I know my dad would have preferred something short and something that "didn't make a big deal" over him but he was too loved, too kind, too considerate, and simply a big deal to so many people. I'm sorry dad but you'll just have to shake your head as you smile that cheeky smile and turn all shades of red.

Shane is survived by a seemingly endless list of family, loved ones, and friends, which included, but is not limited to, his daughters, Kristen and Tahnee; his only grandchild, Kenedie; his son-in-law, Christoph; sister, Heidi of Belgrade and her daughters Shayne and Hannah; his mother, Hattie Poser of Great Falls; his birth mother, Terrie of Idaho in addition to her other children whom he was fortunate enough to connect within the last 6 years; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends from high school and beyond, softball teammates, neighbors, coworkers, and his loving girlfriend, Anna Truesdell whom he so looked forward to a future with. He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon "Buck" Tuttle, who passed nearly 3 years prior on July 24, 2019.

Shane began life in Helena, Montana on March 12, 1970. At that time, his biological mother, Terri wasn't quite ready to lead him on life's journey but that's when the universe brought his mother, Hattie and his father, Buck forward and placed him into their arms. He grew up knowing rodeo, wrestling, hard work, friends, and sneaking his mom's car out before the age of 10 only to run out of gas before he was able to return it back home without her knowing. His rebellious phase didn't stop there but to spare him the embarrassment, I’ll leave the other stories to his friends and family to share and reminisce. Following his graduation from Great Falls High School, he enlisted in the army and was stationed at Fort Lewis, Tacoma, Washington to support his young family. Although he did not make a career of his military service, he looked forward to being a dad to his girls and spoiling them any chance he got. After some time spent away from family and loved ones, Shane returned to Great Falls in 2016 to be nearer to family especially his mother, Hattie, and his father, Buck. Despite his occasional fault, my dad was known for his willingness to help anyone, anytime, and anyplace, no questions asked. He never allowed his past to cloud his future.

Shane imparted a genuine sense of integrity, perseverance, and kindness to those around him. He was a man of Christ. His faith was unwavering, and his spirituality was dynamic. Despite his limited travels, Shane was worldly. His affinity for literature and culture was quickly evident in conversation. He was well-read, open-minded, and of high character. He was as a father should be, protective, honest, loving, and a guiding light with steadfast wisdom that was far beyond his years.

We will all miss the man who entered every room with confidence; the man who could share tidbits of information on nearly any subject and was always willing to have those deep, philosophical talks; the man who made a sweatshirt and jeans look good and a suit even better; the man who knew what to say at any given moment and when to grab your hand with an extra squeeze for reassurance.

We love you dad and this will not be easy for any of us. Forgive us if we get a bit too emotional from time to time or lose patience with the world around us,      but you just made that much of an impact on the world around you which can never be replaced or duplicated.

Condolences, fond memories, and well wishes for my dad’s journey can be shared online below this legacy posting as well as on Facebook. If you are connected with him currently, I simply ask that if you are able, please tag my dad, my sister, Tahnee, my aunt, Heidi or dad’s love, Anna.
