David Stevens Obituary

David C. Stevens, 76, of Chester, MT passed away on July 17, 2022, in Billings, MT. Cremation has been entrusted to Croxford Funeral Home and a Memorial Service will be held at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Chester on Wednesday July 27, 2022 at 11AM; Graveside Service to follow at the Chester Cemetery with Military Honors.

David was born on May 11,1946 in Great Falls, MT; he was the first of six children born to Darlene and Thomas Stevens. He attended local schools and graduated from Great Falls High School. Upon graduating, he started working at the smelter after which he entered the United States Navy, serving his country during the Vietnam War on the Ticonderoga and Yorktown. After being discharged from his military service, David apprenticed as a carpenter, he became a journeyman and later a finish carpenter. He worked for several construction companies in Great Falls and at one time had his own business known as “Kitchen Solvers”, a cabinet refacing business. David also spread this love for carpentry and community by volunteering as a 4-H judge for carpentry at the Marias fair.

David was an avid outdoorsman, who loved to bow and rifle hunt. He was a member of the Sweetgrass Archers and was the Montana State Indoor Archery Champion one year. He was also a loyal member of the NRA, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Mule Deer Foundation, OCI A and GOA.

He had two children from his first marriage, a son Frank and a daughter. David married two more times before he met the love of this life in 1993; the couple were married on July 31, 1999, sharing almost 30 years together. David moved to Chester to take on the profession of farming and he farmed until his retirement in 2021. David and his wife enjoyed many activities together, in the last few years they even started keeping bees.

He is survived by his wife Susan Yurman; son Frank (Kym) and his daughter; brothers Randy and Roger; sister Bonnie.
