Marcia's Obituary
Marcia Kay Frey Schearer, 73, of Great Falls, Montana passed away on Monday, December 5, 2022, at Benefis Hospital in Great Falls, Montana. She was born on September 13, 1949, in Estherville, Iowa to Rev. and Mrs. Bernard and Emma (Anfinson) Frey. She was married on June 14, 1969, to Sheldon Schearer of Hope, Michigan. They were married for 53 years.
While attending college at Pillsbury Baptist Bible College in Owatonna, MN, Marcia worked for Kotte’s Jewelers and Jostens. Marcia joyfully served as a pastor’s wife with her husband in their many places of ministry. These churches included Calvary Baptist Church, Wells, Minnesota; Delavan Baptist Church, Delavan, Minnesota; First Baptist Church, Elkton, South Dakota, and Heritage Baptist Church, Great Falls, Montana, where her husband Dr. S.C. Schearer is still currently a pastor. After moving to Great Falls, Marcia went to work as a bookkeeper for several businesses including Dundas Office Supply, Met Life Insurance, Heritage Baptist School, and Scheels Sports. Marcia loved to teach the Bible and her foremost desire in life was to be a follower of Jesus Christ and a loyal friend. The calling that gave her the most joy was that of mom to her boys and later grandma to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In 2011, Marcia suffered a ventricle cardiac arrest and traumatic brain injury due to lack of oxygen. During 4 months of hospitalization and rehab, she learned to walk, talk, and eat again. After returning home, Sheldon and Marcia started part two of their amazing adventure together. God provided many others who helped bring comfort, security, and love to her during these last eleven years.
She is survived by her husband, Sheldon of Great Falls; three sons, Chad (Marsha) Schearer of Belt, Montana; Cory (Sara) Schearer of Taylors, South Carolina; and Casey (Robynn) Schearer of Great Falls, Montana; sister, Barbara Sherman of Apple Valley, Minnesota; brother, Duane (Alice) Frey of Aledo, Texas; and sister, Deborah (Brian) Boldt of Owatonna, Minnesota; fourteen grandchildren, Walker (Breanna), Wyatt, William, John, Emma, Kate, Michael Church, Matthew, Adam (Paige), Jacob (Ivana), Julia, Leeanna, Joey, and Shiloh Schearer; and three great-grandchildren, Violet, Paisley, and Myah.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A public viewing will be held on Friday, December 9, 2022, from 7:00-9:00 PM and Saturday, December 10, 2022, at 1:00 PM. A funeral service will follow the viewing on Saturday at 2:00 PM all at Heritage Baptist Church in Great Falls, Montana. Burial will be at a later date at New Hope Cemetery in Hope, Michigan.
