Daniel Joseph "Butch" Gregier

January 26, 1947 - October 21, 2022

Daniel Joseph “Butch” Gregier passed away at Benefis Hospital on the evening of October 21, 2022, at the age of 75, from complications of COVID and long-standing health issues.

Dan was born on January 26, 1947, to Hilary and Lillian Gregier. He was the baby of the family, with big sister, Sandy and big brother, Kevin welcoming him into the fold.

Born and raised in Butte, Montana, Dan worked at the Berkeley Mining Pit after high school graduation and like many sons of his generation, he was drafted into service during the Vietnam War. He served his country as a Marine, and upon returning from war, found God. As he would recount, he was “on fire for the Lord.”

He went on to attend University of Montana Western, and after graduation, returned home to Butte where he met his beautiful bride, Sherrie Driscoll. The couple moved to Great Falls after marriage where Dan took a job working at the Deaf and Blind School.

Over the course of his career, he dedicated his life to education and children, serving as a Special Education Teacher, a District Administrator, and Associate Principal for CMR High School, for the Great Falls Public School District.
Dan and Sherrie were blessed with four children, who Dan adored. His children and wife were his greatest joys and partners in life’s adventures. He would go on to have 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Dan was a dreamer who loved God, his family, travel, music, the ocean, drives in the country, and the beauty of Montana. His love for mankind was seen in his generosity, kindness, compassion, and his inclination to take in the tired, poor, weak, and lonely.

Dan is survived by his wife, Sherrie Gregier; daughter, Eryn (Scott) McElroy; grandchildren, Michael, Kole, Isaiah, JoJo, and Jaycee; great-grandsons, Grayson and Michael; daughter, Andie (Vipul) Darji; granddaughters, Isha and Maya; son, Nathan (Laurel) Gregier; grandsons, Oliver and Everett; son, Joel (Linda) Gregier; grandsons Benjamin and Caleb; and his big sister, Sandy Smith.

A memorial service will be held at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel (1410 13th St. South, Great Falls, MT) on October 28, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend. Schnider Funeral Home has been entrusted with services and arrangements. Cremation has taken place.
