We all lost a shining light on August 5, 2022, when Daniel Thomas Gerhart tragically passed away.

Daniel was the son of Terry Graeme and Stacey May Gerhart of Bowen and Woodwark Queensland, Australia. Daniel attended primary school at Cannonvale State School and high School at the Proserpine State High School and Stanford Public School. Daniel enjoyed his time as an only child until his sisters Korina and Anita (daughter of Dea Huvonen) came along. Daniel always held a huge love of family and happily welcomed his stepdad, Luke Green; stepbrother, Jackson Green; stepsister, Madison Green; and stepmother, Dea Huvonen into his life.

He lived and worked with his grandparents, Tom and Kathy Hill of Stanford, Montana both during year 10 at school and following school. Daniel was able to spend a lot of time with his grandparents (including Trevor and Helen Gerhart who have predeceased him), aunts and uncles, cousins, and other relatives along with his many friends in both the United States and Australia.

Daniel met and fell in love with his partner, Grace Burns, and they made a home at Belt, Montana prior to Daniel’s death. Daniel recently started working in metal fabrication and heavy equipment operations, and he was looking forward to buying a house following the recent purchase of his new car, a VW Jetta GLI.

He lived his life to the fullest and was happiest when he was doing something outdoors. Daniel had an intense love of fishing and could often be found fishing on shore or out on a boat in the ocean or out on a dam in Montana. Daniel loved all sports. When he was young, Daniel dreamed of playing baseball. As he grew, he played AFL, cricket, and rugby league. Rugby league was his favorite sport both to participate in and watch. When he moved to the United States, he enjoyed watching football, basketball, and recently started playing golf. He was a beautiful young man who always tried to make sure that nobody was excluded. Daniel was a shining light to all his friends, family, and acquaintances he met along the way.

Daniel’s beautiful life was tragically cut short, but he will forever be cherished in the hearts of his parents, siblings, stepparents, stepsiblings, grandparents, including Dawn and Warkick Green, aunts and uncles, cousins, other relatives, and a host of friends across the world. A shining light is gone, but Daniel will always be a part of the lives of those he touched.

Daniel’s funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the O’Connor Memorial Chapel in Great Falls, MT.
