Lonny's Obituary

Lonny Joseph Eiskant, 56, passed away at home on February 28, 2024, of a heart attack.  A joint celebration of life will be held June 1, 2024, from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at Schnider Funeral Home for family and close friends of Lonny and his mother, Gloria Eiskant who passed away September 28, 2023, with a memorial for Lonny following from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at the Frontier Inn on Vaughn Frontage Rd

Lonny was born May 20, 1967, in Suffern, NY to John and Gloria (Goerger) Eiskant. The family moved back to Montana shortly after his birth.

In June 1989, he married Shawnna Krause, and they had 3 beautiful children together, Jessika, Wade and Justin. Later they would divorce, but always managed to put their children first no matter where life’s paths lead them.

In 1995, he met his current wife, Theresa Omholt, and gained another beautiful daughter, Ashley. Lonny and Theresa spent almost 29 years of love, laughter and tears together. Lonny was the best at showing that the little things are everything and he did them daily for her and his family.

Some things you may or not know about Lonny, he loved scary movies and music. He had nicknames for most of his friends and co-workers, always meant to get a good laugh and endear them to him. He was a huge tease.  He had an inherent way of always knowing the time, even without a watch. He was a Ford guy. He lived and breathed “made in America.”  He was a proud Union man and always said “Show me a man with calluses on his hands, and I’ll vote for him.” He worked two or more jobs most of his life and knew everybody. He loved snowmobiling and side by siding at King’s Hill and Lincoln. He looked forward to annual summer trips to the Flathead to see family & raft the branches of the Flathead River.  He wore pink on Fridays in honor of his ex-wife Shawnna and her mother, Deb, who are both breast cancer survivors. He hated lying, littering and laziness. He was huge on recycling, and it was a weekly trip he made to help Mother Earth. He could fix anything if it was fixable, didn’t matter what it was, which in turn got him the nickname, MacGyver by Theresa. He was a good friend and was always there to lend a hand, whether it was helping move people, fixing something for them or just helping out with whatever the task may be. He was stubborn and hated taking pills, didn’t matter if it was ibuprofen or scripts. He never made anything about himself, he was humble. He loved all 4 of his children and was extremely proud of them and all their achievements and hard work ethic.

I have a million things I could say but then this would be a book and not an obituary. Whether you met him once, worked with him, grew up with him or ran in his circle, he was always generous and fun to be around. He had a ready smile and a big heart. He loved time spent at the family cabin in Lincoln, MT more than anything and hoped to retire there someday.

His soon to be daughter-in-law wrote a tribute for him and has ok’d sharing it with everyone. Tara, you hit the nail on the head, and I thank you for it.

“Lonny Eiskant held many titles in life. Each title he held with the highest honor that he could. Father, husband, son, brother, grandpa, friend…

We were truly lucky to have known him. He was so damn kind, hardworking and funny! His laugh was contagious. Lonny didn’t own a cellphone and I share that because he was always present in the moment when you were with him. I pray people always take something away from when a loved one leaves, and I think being present in the moment is something I will try my best and honor him by.

Life is too damn short so ride hard (Lonny loved all things motorized) and love hard!”

Lonny is survived by his wife, Theresa; his daughters, Jessika (Erik) Eiskant and Ashley Ferguson; sons, Wade Eiskant and Justin (Tara) Eiskant; sisters, Barb (Don) Harris and Colleen Snider; his newest love, granddaughter, Tulsa Ray; best pal, Scrunchie; plus many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Lonny’s family has known a lot of loss since losing his dad in December 2022, his Uncle Rich in August 2023 and his mother in September 2023. Through all that pain, he was always steadfast with a smile and kind to others. I hope if nothing else, I pray that others can learn from him and remember to be kind to everyone, like he was, because we have no idea what another human being is going through and honestly, life is hard.

The family appreciates your support during this difficult time and asks that in lieu of flowers, that you consider donating to the Great Falls Rescue Mission or the Great Falls Animal Shelter.

I’ll end with one of Lonny’s famous goodbyes “Glad you got to see me!”
