Gerald “Jerry” Keith Dolson, 76, of Great Falls, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, September 18, 2022 in Lincoln, MT. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 30th at 1:00 PM in the Rose Room Chapel at Croxford Funeral Home.
Born in Great Falls on February 26, 1946, to Walter K. and Laura (Sloan) Dolson, Jerry, lovingly known as “S.O.B.”, lived his whole life in Great Falls. He graduated from Great Falls High School in 1964 and married his beloved Karen Patricia that same year. Together for 58 years, they were blessed with three beautiful children: sons, Monty and Rick, and daughter Cindy.
Jerry worked as a meat cutter for 40 years, starting in his teens and owning his own businesses: Have Knife Will Travel, Jerry’s Custom Cutting and Curing, Martin’s Meat Market and 2J’s Meat and Sausage. He was known for his sausage, bacon, jerky and his Montana famous fire glazed ham. He was a multiple winner in the National Pork Producer’s cure meat category.
Early on Jerry began purchasing rental property and successfully managed them for over 50 years until his passing. Always one to stay busy, after his retirement from meat cutting Jerry started working as a charter bus driver, continuing for 18 years until retiring again last year.
A lover of old cars, Jerry was a member of the Skunk Wagon Car Club and won multiple trophies at local car shows. He enjoyed genealogy and history and was a member of the Senior Citizens Center in Great Falls, where he made many good friends and will be truly missed. He cherished his time with his family, loved helping out wherever and whenever he could, and enjoyed the times spent at Holland Lake and Lincoln.
Survivors include his devoted wife, Karen; sons, Monty (Karen J.) and Rick (Kim); daughter, Cindy; sister, Janet DeMarco; brother, Walt Dolson; sister-in-law, Michelle West; brother-in-law, Randy Swingley; grandsons, Nick (Cydney), Joe (Ashley Wolfe), Kylar (Aidan Peters); two great grandkids coming in February and March of 2023; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and his longtime friend, Keith Carlson.
Those who preceded him in death include his parents; mother-in-law, Joyce Swingley; sister, Vivian Edwards.
In lieu of flowers, car enthusiast are encouraged to drive their cars to the service and to take every opportunity to enjoy driving them!
