David's Obituary
David John Lee, 62, of Great Falls, passed away comfortably at home on Oct. 3, 2022, after battling cancer. Dave was born on June 17, 1960, in Cayuga, New York to parents George and Jane Lee. The family moved to Billings when Dave was young, and he would make Montana home for the rest of his life.
He graduated from Billings West High School in 1978 as a West High Bear but became a Bison when his children attended and competed in sports for Great Falls High.
Dave met his wife, Carrie Roseth in Billings and the two were married on Aug. 20, 1988. Dave and Carrie moved soon after to Great Falls, where they raised their son, Ethan and daughter, Morgan. They worked together for over three decades. Dave was a longtime member of New Hope Lutheran Church. He was also very active in the Sun River Skeet Club and had a regular Thursday golf game with his buddies at Meadow Lark Country Club.
An avid outdoorsman, Dave took great pride in the family cabin near Camp Rotary in the Monarch area, where he loved to cut wood and work in his shop dubbed the “Taj Mahal.” Dave loved his times hunting in the Ennis high-country area with relatives, and several years ago achieved a personal milestone when he filled a black bear tag on a dream hunting trip in British Columbia. Sports was a big part of Dave’s world, and he enjoyed cheering for the Dallas Cowboys, Boston Bruins, Baltimore Orioles, and the MT Griz.
Dave was the sales manager at MDS Construction Supply starting in 1989, and not only took pride in his work, but in the lifelong friendships he developed with countless customers. While Dave had an unmatched work ethic, he was also always the life of the party with his energy, positive attitude, and sense of humor.
Dave’s greatest love of all was his family, never missing a single sporting event or golf tournament. The family enjoyed many trips to Glacier Park, California, Nevada, and Arizona to play golf and enjoy the sunshine. He had an amazing ability to make friends and he cherished them all.
Dave is survived by his wife, Carrie Lee; son, Ethan Lee; daughter, Morgan (Jake) Knutson; sisters, Cathy (Bob) Repnak of Billings and Barb (Dan) Robertus; mother-in-law, Dorothy Roseth; and numerous extended family members. He was preceded in death by parents, George and Jane Lee; brothers, George “Skip” Lee and Tom Lee; and his father-in-law, Wayne Roseth.
A memorial service for Dave will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 14, 2022, at New Hope Lutheran Church in Great Falls, with lunch following the service. The family wishes to thank Dr. Bryan Martin and his wonderful team for their compassionate care over the last four years. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sletten Cancer Institute of Great Falls or New Hope Lutheran Church.
