Victoria” Vicky” Lynn Cassity, age 64, of Cascade County, died on May 10, 2022, due to cancer.

Survivors include her husband, Michael Cassity whom she married in 2002 on the peak of Sugarloaf Mountain in Cascade, Montana; her youngest son, Matthew Wedge of Indiana; grandchildren, Dylan, Aidan, and Brittany of Indiana; step-dad, Ron Goorhouse of Indiana; mother-in-law, Shelby Hawkins of Great Falls; beloved sister, Cheryl (Jimmy) Price of Georgia; aunts, Adelaide (Tim) Cashman of Washington and Nancy (James) Stallter of Michigan; nieces, Carrie Jung of New Mexico and Kelley Price of Georgia; nephews, James Ryan Price of Georgia and Cisco Martinez of New Mexico; great-nieces, Amelie and Morgan; great-nephews, Jameson, James, and Wayde; special friends, Garrett and Jess whom she considered as family; many cousins and friends in Montana, Idaho, Washington, California, lowa, New Jersey, Oregon, Arizona, New Mexico, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Kentucky, Florida, Michigan, Nevada, Texas, and Missouri. She loved them all.

Vicky was preceded in death by her parents, Grace Goorhouse and Roger Cook; as well as her aunt, Merle Luhrsen. Her eldest son, D.J. Rahn, was killed by a drunk driver in 2003 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Vicky was never able to properly deal with his loss.

Born in Mishawaka, Indiana, Vicky spent her early childhood at Camp Zama, Japan and then Hopkinsville, Kentucky. When her father completed his service in the 101st Airborne, the family returned to Indiana. There, Vicky attended and graduated from the Baugo School System where she participated in music (she played the oboe, English horn, bass guitar, bell lyre and percussion), art, student government, and various sports. In 1984, she graduated from Indiana Vocational Technical College with an LPN certificate in order to be able to support her boys on her own.

Vicky loved her sons unconditionally and worked hard to provide them with many life experiences. She enjoyed motorcycling from the age of 2 and participated in motorcycle drag racing with the International Dragbike Association as well as at the Osceola Dragway where she also worked part-time. She performed 4 static-line parachute jumps, one bungee jump, and went zip lining in order to get over her fear of heights. While those activities did not cure her fears, they proved to be exciting adventures. She was an avid reader and enjoyed sewing, crafting, and photography. She loved exploring the magic of Montana. She spent years researching and documenting her family history for future generations. While she was quite possibly the very worst downhill skier in Montana, she enjoyed gliding on the green runs as her iPod played softy in her helmet. Her Montana gardening was not very successful, but she kept trying. Vicky enjoyed the independence of off-grid living since moving to Montana in 1998. While Vicky seemed to fall in love with most any animal she saw, her personal critters were especially close to her heart and an important part of her life, particularly Shadow, Dave, and Roxie. She loved "her mountains," which seemed to bring her peace. Schnider Funeral Home in Great Falls is in charge of arrangements. No funeral services are to be held. If possible, Vicky's body will be donated to the Montana Body Donation Program for the benefit of medical students. Cremation and scattering of ashes will take place at a later date. Should friends wish to contribute to causes close to Vicky's heart, please consider St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Best Friends' Animal Society or Mothers Against Drunk Driving.

Special thanks to the infusion nurses at the Great Falls Clinic Cancer Care Center (Markie, you are a ROCKSTAR), the truly amazing Dr. McCafferty, Advanced Practice Physical Therapy, Dr. B. Martin, Dr. C. Rutter, Dr. Guter, and all of the medical teams who helped to keep her comfortable when her condition became terminal. Special thanks as well to the Retired Hospice Nurses who offered their unconditional love and support.

Blessed be the courageous, for they shall have adventures.
