Barbara "Barb"'s Obituary
Barbara “Barb” Davis at the age of 74, passed away on January 11, 2023. She was in a room filled with loved ones and family.
Barb was born on May 7, 1948, in San Diego, CA to parents Bert and Alice Koelling. She met the love of her life, James “Big Jim” Davis and got married in 1965. Together they raised two wonderful children, their son, Jimmy Davis Jr. and daughter, Tina Jolly. Jim and Barb had a loving marriage, and she based her life around making others feel welcomed and loved.
Barb was a woman filled with love and life. She would never hurt a fly but was always willing to lend a hand or ear to anyone in need. She worked at various restaurants as a waitress, including Sambos, Colleen’s, Ulmers, The Heritage Inn, Rainbow Hotel, and Lippi’s. She made anyone that sat at her table whether at home or at work feel welcomed and loved. She had a knack for making anyone smile and was dedicated to those she loved. She was passionate and believed in family values. She retired to take care of her husband, Big Jim through his illness She also helped care for her many great-grandkids and made time to be with her close friends. After Big Jim’s passing, Barb continued to give to her community and family. She also went back to work at the Comfort Inn doing breakfast and driving the shuttle bus. After being diagnosed with cancer but having success with treatments, it became important for her to give back to the community. She believed she was given a second chance to continue blessing those around her. She would volunteer at Emmanuel Church and supporting many of her close friends. She filled her life with giving to others and making those around her laugh. She appreciated the outpouring of love and support during her last couple of years fighting cancer. To make a long, loving story short, Barb was a light to this world and brought joy to everyone that knew her whether it was for a moment or years.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, James “Big Jim” Davis; parents, Bert and Alice Koelling; brothers, Donald and Dennis Koelling; and sister, Florence “Flo” Thompson. She is survived by her daughter, Tina Jolly; son, Jimmy Davis Jr.; grandsons, Aaron, Christopher, and Adam Willmarth, Justin, Jared, Jace, and Jevin Davis; granddaughter, Holly McMullen; and great-grandkids, Garret, Brendan, Ellie, Aidan, Jozy, Kristianna, Kaylee, Charles, Amelia, Jaxon, Michael, Jory, Krue, Jaxon, Jett, Jacob, and Jensyn.
