Giant Springs Elementary School is officially open and ready for the first day of classes on Wednesday.
A ribbon cutting ceremony and open house was held Tuesday afternoon at the former spot of Lowell Elementary School and will house students from Roosevelt Elementary School.
The new school has 25 classrooms, a state-of-the-art library media center, and three classrooms specifically designed for music and art, plus progressive technology in every corner of the building.
It boasts a 5,100 square foot gym with bleacher seating for 120 people. There is also a designated space for Student Healthcare Clinic and elevator handicap accessibility to all levels.
The principal of Giant Springs said she is just as excited for the first day as the kids.
“Everyone is so excited. I have seen so many kids on this playground, peaking in windows, looking around, excited for school to start. They can’t wait for the first day tomorrow and I can’t wait to get them in there and get started,” said Rhonda Zobrak.
This is the first school to be built in Great Falls since 1970.
The school is also expected to be under the $15 million budget allocated through the bond levy passed in 2016.
Giant Springs Elementary School is located at 520 32nd Street North.
