Follow My Ride

My ride will also be featured on multiple websites including the Special Operations Warrior Foundation (www.specialops.org), Children of Fallen Patriots (www.fallenpatriots.org), World Ultra Cycling Association (www.ultracycling.com), and the Guinness World Records (www.guinnessworldrecords.com). Additionally, I will be featuring all sponsors on my website, www.cycleforthekids.com.

Exposure from these websites offers an opportunity to increase marketing and advertising efforts, allowing organizations to specifically target consumers over 50, and those interested in cycling who will be following my adventures.

I am an ordinary woman with an extraordinary goal

Ever since I was a child, I knew that I wanted to do something magnificent in my life, but I didn’t know what or how.

About two years ago years at 64 years of age I started riding my bike to work just to try to lose weight and to get healthy. It was nine miles there and nine miles back. The most I had ever ridden a bike was three miles and that was long ago and far away.

I was determined to conquer my commute to work so I got a squeaky old bike out of my storage shed and the next morning I set off to work. I had no idea how hard it would be for an out-of-shape, overweight, 65-year-old woman to begin cycling. The first day I could only ride two miles without stopping for a rest, then one more mile, then one more mile until after an hour I finally made it.

Each day I was able to go just a little further than the day before until I finally made it all the way without stopping.

Little did I know that I was falling in love with this sport and still little by little was getting better and better and spending more and more time on my bike until one day I was thinking about my childhood dream and like a lightning strike I realized that if I worked very hard, I could use this love of cycling to help many children by setting a goal of riding across America to get thousands of people to donate to the children who have lost a parent in war which is a cause near and dear to my heart.

I have been training very hard for two years learning how to cycle through the pain, the heat, the rain, the cold, and cycling ultra-distances.

With the help of many people, I will be dipping my back tire in the Pacific Ocean on July 4th and my front tire in the Atlantic Ocean on October 4th

Finally, I am working with numerous media outlets to cover portions of my ride. Along the way, I will be interviewed by local television and radio stations, and I will be holding events at key locations including restaurants and gyms.

My support team includes numerous world-renown cycling experts including Amanda Coker, a pro rider for Team Virginia Blue Ridge Twenty24 Women’s Cycling Team (team owner Nicola Cranmer and World Ultra Cycling Recordholder (over 500 miles in 24 hours); Meg Fisher, a member of the Team USA Paralympic Cycling Team and winner of a gold medal, two silver medals, and a bronze medal; Thaise Mollet, Doctor of Physical Therapy to the US Olympic Cycling Team; and Jeffrey Ritter, winner of the 2019 US National and World Ultra Cyclist World Championship Time Trials.

Welcome to Cycle for the Kids!
I believe every child of a fallen Special Forces Operator deserves the chance to achieve success

For that reason, I’m doing a bike route across the country to raise funds. I’m seeking sponsors to donate that money to Special Operations Warrior Foundation, a 4-star charity organization. My journey begins in Anacortes, Washington, and ends 4,280 miles later in Bar Harbor, Maine. As a side bonus, once the travel ends, I will earn the Guinness World Record for the oldest woman to ever cycle from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean with this route.

Sponsorship Letter

My mission is to gather sponsors and donate 100% of proceeds to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation which helps children with their education

By becoming my sponsor, you can honor the fallen parents of these children and provide a better future for them.  I am excited about this mission! I have the support of my husband of 45 years, who is a disabled Special Forces Operator. I’ll be documenting everything during my trip on my blog, and several site owners have offered me the opportunity to cover my story on their guest blog. If you become one of my supporters, you’ll have the possibility to get exposure and target the cyclists who follow me. If you want to reach out to me, don’t hesitate to call me at (775) 842-9054. You can also send me a message at cycleforthekids@gmail.com. Please remember to stay in touch with me via my blog and follow my bike journey.
