Aiden's journey

Hello we are the Caldwell's! Let me tell you a little about our family... Brandon and I have been married for 12 years. We have five amazing children we like to call our fabulous five ❤️

Our first born is 11 years old, her name is Teagan. She loves all things girly but isn't afraid to get out and hunt with her Daddy. We loved being parents to Teagan so much we decided to have one more!! So a short 14 months later we welcomed our first boy Trevon.

Trevon is 10 years old and can shoot a bow better than most. His favorite topic is not surprisingly anything to do with hunting. He is his daddy's twin. Being parents to two amazing little people was perfect. Right when we thought we had being parents to two down we got the surprising news that a third one was on the way. He is the kind of surprise you dream about. His name is Treysen and he is a true joy.

Treysen is 8 years old and is the easiest going little man around. You can find Treysen hanging out with his dad and big brother! That is unless you turn on a good movie then he will be the first to snuggle up and watch it with you. We loved having our three kids!!! I will never forget the night Brandon and I were talking and decided we should make our three kids into an even number by trying for just one more.

Yet again God had different plans and blessed us with twins. We were beyond shocked because neither of us had twins in our family that we knew of... We both stayed in shock for weeks.

Our twins are now 6 years old. We call them the twin tornados. What one doesn't think of, the other does and we love every moment of it. Baby A is Aiden and baby B is Axton. At 12 weeks pregnant with our twins we found out my father was dying from cancer and he wouldn't make it to our delivery date. We decided after we got the news about my dad that we would make an appointment to try and find out if the babies were boys or girls. We felt like it would help my father feel like he wasn't missing out on knowing them. It brought him peace knowing he could know them a little before he passed. My father loved being a grandpa so much and I saw the pain in his eyes when he knew he wouldn't get to meet them this side of heaven. It was the best decision we could have made. It truly meant the world to him when we walked in with the ultrasound pictures saying the twins were boys. We all were so excited to be adding two more boys to the clan... But it was at that appointment that our joy quickly turned to fear as we found out that baby A had one of the worst heart conditions anyone could ever have. They told us that day we couldn't deliver our twins in our home state of Montana because no one here could handle this condition. The name of Aiden's condition is Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, also known as HLHS. They told us on that day that once Aiden was born he would need not one, not two, BUT THREE open heart surgeries to have the best life he can. Axton, or baby B, was completely healthy. There was no question right from the start that we would fight alongside Aiden for the life that God had blessed him with. We went home and started researching and praying about what to do and where to go. After substantial research we decided on Seattle Children's hospital. At 23 weeks pregnant, Brandon moved the kids and I to Seattle Washington to patiently await the twins arrival. Brandon drove back and forth to work until it was time to have the twins. Aiden and Axton arrived right at 40 weeks weighing almost 8lbs each.

Aiden had his first open heart surgery at 4 days old and his second surgery at 3 months old. We are now facing our third surgery and know yet again that our family is going to be torn apart for some time. We are praying that Aiden has a smooth surgery/recovery and that we can all get back home as fast as possible.

With this surgery comes a lot of unknowns and stress. We haven't yet been able to get into the Ronald McDonald House, so housing is still up in the air. Brandon will be coming back and forth to work once Aiden is out of ICU.

Unfortunately the time Brandon is going to be in Seattle is all without pay. Our first time over in Seattle was well over twenty thousand dollars out-of-pocket for everything from housing down to prescriptions, and we are expecting it to be close to that again.

If you don't choose to donate or are unable to, please hold us up in prayer. We will take ALL the prayers we can get!

Thank you for being a part of Aiden's journey ❤️
